Our Services
Free Consulatation
Prospective clients are encouraged to schedule a free one hour consultation to discuss their plans and meet with a midwife to see if we would work well together.
On-Call Service
We are available by phone or text around the clock for labor or other urgent needs.
Routine Prenatal Care
Prenatal visits once monthly until 32 weeks, every two weeks until 36 weeks and then weekly until birth.
Routine labs and most additional testing can be done in the office.
Additional referrals to other providers will be provided as needed.
Home Birth
Clients planning a home birth will receive a prenatal home visit at approximately 36-37 weeks.
A home birth kit containing necessary supplies, including towels and bed linens, will be delivered to your home at your home visit.
We are happy to attend water births and loaner pools are usually available (not guaranteed). Referrals for rental or purchase are available upon request.
Services include attendance during your labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum. A newborn exam is conducted during this time.
Birth Center Birth
Our midwives also attend births at The Birthing Inn in Tacoma.
Gig Harbor Midwifery clients who intend to deliver at the birth center will need to register there by 37 weeks gestation.
Services include attendance during your labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum. A newborn exam is conducted during this time.
You may stay at the Birth Center for up to 6 hours following delivery.
Postpartum Care
Visits after the birth include two home visits in the first 5 days, then office or phone visits at 10-14 days and 3-4 weeks, and a final office visit at 6-8 weeks postpartum.
We are able to provide routine newborn care and screening for the first two weeks.
Lactation support or referral are also provided.
Insurance
We accept a variety of public and private health insurance plans, including some WA Apple Health plans. Our midwives are in-network provider for a number of insurance plans. Please call your insurance to verify coverage, or contact our billing specialist (https://www.islandbillingseattle.com/estimates) for more information.
We also offer prepayment discounts for our cash paying clients who have paid in full by 37 weeks, and payment plans are available.

Service Locations
Gig Harbor Midwifery will attend home births within a 60 minute travel radius from the clinic in Gig Harbor. This radius includes (but is not limited to) Gig Harbor, Fox Island, Tacoma, Auburn, Puyallup, Fife, Ruston, Fircrest, University Place, Lakewood, DuPont, Stielacoom, Lacey, Olympia, Olalla, Burley, Purdy, Key Center, Longbranch, Lakebay, Allyn, Vaughn, Belfair, Port Orchard, Manette, Bremerton, Silverdale, Seabeck, and Pouslbo. Exceptions may be considered on an individual basis.
Clients planning a birth center birth may live outside this radius if their home is within reasonable traveling time/distance from the birth center.
